Tech giant Google is soon going to allow users less than 18 years of age or their parents to request for removal of their images from Google Image Search results. Google will turn safe search on for existing signed-in users who are below 18 years of age and make it a default setting for teens. Among all other measures, Google will also ensure that location history remains off for these users without an option to turn it on.
Google said in its blog post, “We’re committed to building products that are secure by default, private by design, and that put people in control. And, while our policies don’t allow kids under 13 to create a standard Google account, we’ve worked hard to design enriching product experiences specifically for them, teens, and families.”During the pandemic, kids have majorly exposed to technology to continue with their studies and maintain connections with their friends and peers. Kids and Teens are spending more time online now and there is a great need to keep them safe and protect from any child abuse.Google also reported that some countries have already implemented regulations in this specific area and as the company complies with these regulations, it is looking at ways to develop consistent product experiences and user controls for kids and teens globally.
