The most anticipated Samsung Galaxy Fold has cost Samsung a lot in terms of trust of its users and brand image. The Phone was highly rumored to increase Samsung’s brand value but it looks like the company failed in its plan. Earlier, the phone was set to be launched on April 26th, 2019. After years of rumors and hype, it seemed like the first foldable OLED phone was about to arrive until it suffered mysterious, abrupt failure just after taking it out for review. This has led to a decrease in its brand value.

Several outlets like The Verge and CNBC bought phones and then reviewed them for their millions of users. But their expectations failed when the phone screen broke from the middle. Actually, the phone comes with a “protective layer” which looks exactly like a removable screen protector which is not at all removable. In fact, it is a part of the display structure.

Dieter Bohn of ‘The Verge’ said in his review, “I still do not know how I got the bulge in my first fold’s hinge that destroyed its flexible OLED screen.”

The phone first of all costs doubles the cost of Galaxy S10 Plus and represents a new generation phone with the ability of both a phone and a Tablet. The screen when folded makes a crease in the middle which cannot be neglected. To address this Samsung said,

“The main display on the Galaxy Fold features a top protective layer, which is part of the display structure designed to protect the screen from unintended scratches. Removing the protective layer or adding adhesives to the main display may cause damage.”

But most of the users and media outlets have raised the question As if why this warning has come after all this mess. It should have come earlier prior to taking its order but the company did not do that. In fact, it took orders until its stock went off. This is the reason why we should not be surprised if it causes a drop in sales in June when the phone will launch

Can Samsung Recover From This Mess?

Samsung though is a big international brand and has one of the highest selling phones in the world. Hence the company does have an advantage of not loosing much out of this. The company would be hoping to have a successful second launch in June this year. Moreover, its Note 10 is going to launch soon in the market. The phone has a 3D face unlock sensor which is a great revolution in the Smartphone market. But with their previous launch, nothing could be said as of now. Only the time will tell how the company will be able to get back the trust of users, some of which are still expecting that the company will correct their mistakes before they get their phone in June.
