The existence of Apple Tags / AirTags leaked at numerous outlets last year. Images showed a tile-like Bluetooth tracker that could be paired to an iCloud user account using the same ultra-wideband radios as the newest Apple iPhone 11 handsets.
Apple’s object tracker will be the real selling point for its integration with iOS. It’s believed you can access your item trackers on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac via the “Find My” device. Once the item trackers are available, the Find My application will feature a new “Items” tab for all of the items you choose to track.
In addition, you can place the Apple item tracker in “Missing Mode” – meaning that the tag will store your contact information, enabling other Apple users to read the information. In such instances when your item has been identified, you will receive a notification.
Availability and price for Apple’s item tracker remain largely unknown. Since there have been assets relevant to the device within iOS 13, it does not seem out of the question that Apple will reveal the item tracker at its September event.

Last year, numerous outlets leaked the existence of Apple Tags / AirTags. Descriptions presented a Tile-like Bluetooth tracker that would use the same ultra-wideband radios as the newest Apple iPhone 11 phones and could be paired to an iCloud user account. The tags would make it easier to track lost items, such as keys, through the Find My app, and according to 9to5Mac would use the Offline Finding features introduced in iOS 13. A short rundown of some earlier reports from Apple Tags:
The Tags are going to be circular disks according to both 9to5Mac and MacRumors.
The Tags are likely to be fitted with Apple’s new U1 locator chip, which is already in the iPhone 11
3D balloons, providing the visual indications to identify the location of lost items, possibly via an AR app. “Walk about a small number of feet and move your iPhone up and down until a balloon comes into view” according to a string of code in the Internal iOS 13 build.
It remains unclear when the tags would be made available to the public but it could be released during the iPhone event in September. As 9to5Mac points out, AirTags is a finally new category of products and Apple may choose to unveil them earlier— possibly at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which is expected to take place sometime in June.
