Every social networking company in the world is trying to expand its business in almost every field. Most of the companies including Facebook have already launched games over their respective platforms. With their success, followed more revenue which is the reason why all the companies want to explore this avenue.

As per a recent news from a reliable source Cheddar who broke out the news of Facebook’s plan to launch its video chat device, Snap the parent company of Snapchat is all set to launch its long time rumored gaming platform. The news of launch of this service has been confirmed by a few other sources as well. It is being said that Snapchat will announce the launch of this platform on April 4, 2019 in Los Angeles.

Following Facebook’s huge success followed by a few other social media companies getting success at this platform, Snapchat had already launched some AR lens games in 2018 which received notable success. The success of Snappables, Augmented Reality lens games was big enough considering it was only starting at gaming. But with recent acquisitions it is clear that Snapchat does have the aspirations to succeed in gaming after years of competition with Instagram to get users.

Recent Snapchat Gaming Acquisitions

Snap has purchased a gaming studio Prettygreat which was very popular a few years ago. All three founders of Prettygreat, Phil Larsen, Hugh Walters, and Fruit Ninja creator Luke Muscat, have already sold all their shares that they had and the General Manager of Snapchat Kathryn Carter was made the Director of Prettygreat.

One more acquisition happened in the gaming world with Tencent, which is a Chinese gaming company, who made League of Legends game acquiring a 12 percent stake in Snap. After its acquisition, Tencent released a statement saying we are very interested to invest in gaming more.

Now it looks as if Snapchat might allow third party games to launch on its platform. The application of Snapchat can allow in-app purchases through its platform. Just like Facebook launched in-app purchases which was a huge success for the company.

Snapchat’s Gaming Investment: What to expect?

Although it is very early but considering Snapchat’s investment in Prettygreat and collaboration with Tencent and many other gaming company, it looks that Snapchat will grow even more now. It can earn through advertisements, in-app purchases and a lot of promotions. More and more developers will be able to launch their applications on Snapchat’s platform. It will however be free just like Google play store. But in-app purchases and advertisements along with marketing done by companies to get their client company or developer’s application more success is only going to make the company revenue reach the sky. However only time will tell whether it will get success like Facebook or exceed our expectations.
