LONDON- On Friday, Britain’s competition regulator published a formal probe into Google and Amazon over-focus they have not done sufficient to handle those fake reviews. The chief executive of the CMA, Andrea Coscelli stated that they are investigating concerns that Google and Amazon have not been performing sufficient to swipe out fake reviews to protest honest trades and customers.
He also said it is vital that these tech media keep the responsibility and they stand ready to take action if CMA finds that they are not doing correctly. Misguiding user reviews have proven to be a massive issue in eCommerce, and Amazon is a major target for brands looking to promote their products with fake, favorite notices. In the previous month, the organization visited social media companies to support its isolated dishonest reviews.
The Competition and Markets Authority started an initial investigation into the problem of fake reviews back in 2020’s May. This year’s earlier, it had obtained eBay and Facebook to remove numerous accounts and groups that engaged in trading all fake reviews. Thereafter, in this year’s April, the CMA opined that Facebook had eliminated thousands of more groups that were falsely dealing with and misleading reviews and had developed further transforms to its systems to pick out, remove and restrict like content from coming on its platforms.
On Friday, the CMA concerned about Google and Amazon, saying it was approaching to look into whether they had done sufficient to identify and wipe out those fake reviews. This probe will also test whether these organizations punish reviewers or businesses to fix them from posting misguiding scores.
