The redesigned web app for Facebook is now available globally, the firm reported on Friday. Before this update, Facebook’s latest version was only available if you opted for it beginning in March and only in some markets, but the company said that at the time people would widely get access this month.

In a blog post published today, Facebook says the new site is “soon going to be the global web interfaces for Facebook,” adding that “it is quicker, easier to use and provide your eyes a break with dark mode.”

Medical App Development AgencyThe dark mode is, in essence, the new version’s standout, but the update also includes another very drastic redesign. The home interface features a new skinnier News Feed, ample space on the left and right rails, as well as bigger icons and a menu bar that lets you quickly switch to different sections of the device.

The goal of Facebook’s 2019 F8 developer conference when it first announced the mobile redesign was to refocus the core user interface on the places that users already enjoy using: activities, groups, and messaging. It wasn’t exactly the end of the News Feed per se, but more Facebook leadership agreed that getting an algorithmic stream mainly loaded with garbage from pages and public posts is now an antiquated idea.

People are gradually disappearing into private groups and texting, and the only core usefulness of Facebook right now is that it’s always the easiest way to arrange a big event with friends or reach out to someone you know whose contact information you don’t have.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg said just as much when he announced a change to privacy-focused products and apps for his entire business a few months before the redesign revealed. And unless you’re in the older demographics of Facebook or you’re particularly in the particular brand of hyper-partisan political content on the internet, most people have moved on to spend more of their time on Instagram, TikTok, Twitch, YouTube and other platforms.

Conclusion:

The new Facebook represents the company’s goals, with an emphasis on News Feed videos (because video ads continue to gain a lot of money from the company) and quick access to events and groups alongside a redesigned Messenger line. It can be a startling visual shift, but once you find your way around the new GUI, it is a much more fun Facebook to use.
