AI-Powered Google Go is Now Available Globally for Android Users

A year & a half past it had a restricted launch in Indonesia and India; the lightweight Google Go application is now accessible globally. At just 7MB in size/dimension, the app is destined as a method to discover data online for low-powered gadgets and is even capable of remembering your search results at the time you are back online in case of a poor connection. The application is accessible on the Play Store. Also, Google says that it will run on Android devices having Lollipop (5.0) and above version.

Also, being developed to run on low-powered devices, this lightweight app even has some features that the organization claims are essential for the requirements of an emerging marketplace. Previously this year, Google introduced the Lens system into Google Go that permits the app to make use of its camera for reading the text from the actual world out loud.

Moreover, Google Go was merely obtainable in only some countries. As per the data from Sensor Tower, now it has been downloaded about 17.5 million times worldwide, with the most significant percentage of customers in India (48%). Its subsequent biggest markets are South Africa (4%), Nigeria (6%), Indonesia (16%), and Brazil (14%), Sensor Tower says.
On the whole, Google Go has been made accessible to 29 countries on Android Go edition devices, which include: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Botswana, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Gabon, Mali, Mauritius, Namibia, Niger, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Philippines, Tanzania, Togo, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Uganda,
The Product Manager of Google Go, Bibo Xu mentioned in a blog post, “Earlier this year at I/O, we showcased Lens in Google Go, a way for you to read, translate and search the words you see by using your camera.” Adding further, he said, “When you find text you’d like help with, open Lens and point your camera at it to hear the words read out loud to you, translate them, or both.”

The application features support for voice search. A move away from reading and typing is no accident. After all, The Wall Street Journal published a story in 2017 jotted that the “Next Billion Users” Google is vocally aiming are expected to depend more on voice and video to communicate with their devices.

The app is simply one of the Go-branded applications that Google creates with rising markets in mind. It includes Gallery Go that allows you to organize your photos and Gmail Go, which provides a slimmed-down email familiarity. Besides these applications, Google even builds Android Go, a slimmed-down edition of its mobile OS for low-powered devices. Though it is meant majorly for rising markets, this software has yet set up fans somewhere else because of the relative devoid of tacked-on features.

The app is among several lightweight applications Google has developed for rising markets, along with YouTube Go, Gallery Go, Google Assitant Go, Google Maps Go, Files Go, and Gmail Go, for example.
