WhatsApp is researching over password-secured encrypted chat backups for both Google Drive and iCloud. According to the report of a WhatsApp specification tracker WABetalnfo, the specifications are right now under improvement process and they have not found any release date yet.
Users are allowed to set backup their private chats and media history on their own devices. They also can preserve them online on the Google Drive cloud storage for the Android version and iPhone users can store WhatsApp data online on iCloud. We all know the chats and conversations are always end-to-end encrypted by the instant messaging platform but there is no backup of online data storage on Google Drive or iCloud yet. This is the reason, WhatsApp is coming with an all-new spirit and practicing to improve the security, privacy features of this instant messaging medium.
On the official Twitter page of WABetalnfo, we can see some shared screenshots that talking about features and new privacy policies of WhatsApp. One screenshot suggests clearly if any user forgets his/her password then WhatsApp will be unable to help them. In this case, the user needs to enter the mobile number to make the password protection system confirmed for backups.

Although WhatsApp facilitates Android and iOS devices’ cloud backups, it does not cater to any encrypted end-to-end protection on the cloud for backups that arrives at privacy corners. If it comes then this feature will definitely add an additional layer of security to all users’ chats and conversations. Initially, WhatsApp has given their users time of 8th February to accept the new privacy policy but they extend it up to 15th May.
