Whatsapp is officially launching a new option that will allow users to automatically wipe messages, videos, and photos shared between chats after 7 days by enabling “disappearing messages” feature. This new feature is expected to roll out globally for all Whatsapp users anytime this month. Both individual and group chats can be enabled with the disappearing messages feature. Users can themselves enable this interesting feature in their individual chats but in the case of group chats, only group admins will get the option to enable/disable it.
The motive behind introducing this amazing feature is to enrich the overall user experience and make conversations on Whatsapp feel as real as possible. The use of the disappearing messages option will make the conversations on Whatsapp look a bit lighter and private as the users will be able to automatically delete the new messages received on Whatsapp for an individual chat after a period of seven days.
The leading cross-platform messaging application company announced the roll out of the disappearing messages option on its official twitter account with a post that quoted “Because not all messages need to stick around forever”.
You can expect this feature to be publically rolled out by the end of November for all devices including iOS, Android, Whatsapp Web, and Linux-based iOS devices.

This much-awaited feature can be enabled by opening the Whatsapp application, selecting the name of the contact and then tapping on the disappearing messages option. You will also need to tap “continue” and then select on for switching on this feature for an individual chat.
Users can switch on the disappearing messages feature anytime when it gets rolled out. However, there is no such option that allows users to manually edit the time frame in which the chats can be automatically deleted.
Conclusion
Facebook-owned Whatsapp will be officially launching the “disappearing messages” feature by the end of November for all its users irrespective of the platform they currently use for the Whatsapp application.
