Digital music, podcast, and video streaming service mobile app, Spotify is reportedly working on rolling out its much-awaited local music playback support feature on android. Jane Manchun Wong, a notable engineer expert brought forth this amazing news for android users. He said that there shall soon be local files support or on-device feature for android users on the Spotify app. He even uploaded a screenshot showing a ‘toggle” that will allow the users to enable ‘show device files’.
With the roll out of this feature on the Spotify app for the android platform, users will not be required to sync their smart phones from their laptops/desktops in order to play music that is locally stored on their phones. However, this information is not yet clear whether the local music playback support feature shall be available for only the premium account holders on the spotify app or if it will supposedly roll out for the free spotify account holders as well.

The feature is in the testing mode right now and it could take a while to roll out for the wider audience. Talking about features, Spotify has also started to roll out a ‘stories feature’ on iOS and android to only a defined group of artists. Using this feature, users can share such video clips that have snippets of not just their playlists but album art and songs as well.

This action will open all the local audio files that the users have already saved in their smart phones’ Library. Spotify application will later scan the smart phone for local audio files and then show the same in its ‘Your Library’ section.
