Microsoft published a new change that is arriving quickly to some visible software. It will select a fresh default font for different Office applications like Excel and Word. It indicates that people will never see that amount of font that achieved the default place since 2007 – a sans-serif font called Calibri.
This change is another manifestation that shows this is not that old Microsoft. Satya Nadella substituted the proud and loud Steve Ballmer as CEO in 2014, Microsoft has turned flexible enough for partners to work with. This new form has strategically welcomed third-party platforms rather firmly avoiding them and has transfigured into a daunting competitor in this ever-extensive cloud computing trading.
However, Lucas de Groot, professionally familiar as Luc(as) de Groot, the Dutch kind developer behind Calibri, was surprisingly caught. In a video interview, he said from his hometown Berlin, he never expected it to the type of being substituted already.
He opined he never expects to be discussed such a decision and he felt glad that Microsoft invests in fresh fonts to uprise its software price. He identified the option to change was more about continuing with contemporary trendy style than about improving Calibri’s legibility.
In 2002, De Groot started working on Calibri. A mediator had said him to arrive with a fresh proposal for a typeface monospace for an unknown customer. He was not informed that the customer had also looked for proposals from other parties. He was also requested to arrive with sans serif font and that is why he farewell a few Calibri sketches in addition to the monospace work.
