Infosys, the largest multinational corporation that provides technology services and outsourcing services is all set to inaugurate its technology and innovation centre in Arizona according to the latest reports by the company. Previously Infosys has reportedly hired near about 9,100 employees in the United States (US) in the two years (between April 2017 and March 2019) almost achieving its hiring target of 10,000 American workers. In May 2017, the Bengaluru-headquartered multinational corporation had announced setting up its one more IT and innovation centre in Arizona and hiring about 10k locals in the US over the next 2 years.
Now according to the latest reports, the company, which had in 2017 announced its commitment to employ 10k American workers, said they have surpassed the target. The new hub of the company will primarily have a special focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), full-stack engineering, autonomous technologies, cyber security and data science.
Commenting on the new development of the company, Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Infosys, said: “The inauguration of our Arizona Digital Technology and Innovation Centre is an important milestone in our efforts to help American enterprises accelerate their digital transformations” he said.
“Infosys plans to hire 1,000 American workers in the state by 2023,” it added.
The innovation centre -Arizona Technology and Innovation Centre, is temporarily located at 1465 N. Infosys’ investment in this innovation centre will intensify top local talent alongside the best worldwide talent to minimize the IT skills gap in the state. The hiring process is at present going on and the Centre will move to its permanent location, a 60,000-square-foot facility, and would soon accommodate up to 500 numbers of employees.

“At Infosys, our focus is on harnessing, modeling and scaling a new model for workforce development in the United States,” said Ravi Kumar, President, Infosys. “We believe the private sector has a critical role to play in implementing a model of continuous learning and on-the-job training that removes the barriers which would otherwise prevent workers from fully participating in today’s economy. We look forward to implementing that model here in Arizona, creating a local workforce prepared to address today’s most pressing business challenges” he further added.
Infosys CEO Salil Parekh said in a statement that – For now, the inauguration of Infosys’ Arizona Technology and Innovation Centre is the main target of the company and this step will certainly help various American enterprises to accelerate their digital transformations.
“We are excited to have completed our commitment to hiring 10,000 American workers and we look forward to leveraging and empowering this specialized workforce to bridge the technology skills gap in the market and accelerate the digital agenda of our clients,” he added.
The innovation centre includes a number of labs, showcasing novel prototypes in augmented reality, virtual reality, and robotic technologies. Furthermore, this hub will be soon going to home to a Makers Space that promotes innovation through 3-D printing. The company has also announced a partnership with In Stride that will allow its company employees to complete their degree programs through Arizona State University.
