Cellular communication has massively evolved over the years. The transformation from 2G to 3G to 4G led to humongous investments but at the same time also made life easy for the end-users. There is no doubt about the fact that mobile cellular communication has been an integral part of our society and evolution seems buoyant in the near future.
Many mobile app development companies are focusing on implementing new techniques for creating apps related to 5G now.
4G was the last trend set by the cellular companies that focused on data rate, bandwidth, energy dissipation, and data rate. The next invasion is 5G.
Also known as fifth-generation wireless technology, 5G aims to provide revelations in the field of connectivity. Several factors have driven the adaptation of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) which include loss of bandwidth and connectivity, peers going down, higher latency, etc. Therefore, the upcoming technology trend is going to witness 5G and IoT working cohesively.
Mikael Schachane whois the vice-president of Mobility and IoT at BICS has been a polarizing figure and has always thrived to enable telecom providers to connect better with the mobile world. Here are his views on 5G and IoT:
“At some point in time in certain areas, there has been congestion on the 3G and 4G infrastructures, but 5G will be there to let users continue generating huge amounts of mobile data on their devices,”
He added, “The growth of smartphone penetration, the increase of streaming services, HD quality coming into play, amongst other things, will generate a massive uptake of traffic. Mobile operators need to leverage that and supply the underlying infrastructure, which is why 5G will be required.
“That is probably why in certain areas of the world, they really need 5G neet the customer demand. With 5G comes additional benefits that might become a reality in the second phase of the rollout because it requires a lot of additional investment and changes into the network.”
He further added, “Every interaction that could happen between devices and the cloud, where a huge amount of processing will be done instantaneously, will require an instant transfer of data to the device on both sides.”
“Many countries are still waiting for the regulators to give them the green light to deploy 5G, but many operators are spending a lot of time on 5G. At first, 5G will be more of evolution as opposed to a revolution. We will have a full transformation where 5G core will be made available, but this will require a lot of effort.”

Working in tandem, 5G and IOT are assured of providing a much faster network with a higher capacity and bandwidth. Not only boosting mobile communication and connectivity, but 5G ultra wideband could also impact IoT in enhancing Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experience to a great extent. This could be achieved courtesy 5G’s low latency rate and similarly can enhance the AR/VR possibilities for education and businesses as well.
Here are the three important benefits the consumers are assured to leverage:
Self-driving cars were a dream which can finally turn into reality courtesy 5G. The remarkable speed and connectivity is the lynchpin of 5G networks which will allow data processing between vehicles, networks, infrastructure, and even pedestrians. This is one prime example wherein IoT will be more than crucial for such connectivities.
Smartphones can never be separated from technology. 5G is all set to take smartphones and its usage to the next level. The betterment in the field of signals, connectivity, the smooth connection in previously hard-to-reach places are some of the aspects covered by 5G. Many mobile app development companies are already working on introducing apps that benefit from 5G and IoT to give a hassle-free experience to its user.
People are going to attain an over the top Live streaming or even video streaming experience. The considerably faster-streaming speed with no or less lag time is what 5G promises. Get ready for an immersive experience, including multisensory digital content with 5G that will also support Virtual and Augmented reality as well.
Simply put, edge computing is the process wherein computer resources are brought closer to the user via cloud resources. In the current generation, cloud has been a polarizing figure for unlimited storage capacity. The usage of centralized cloud like Dropbox, Gmail apps have seen a ridiculous growth that has led people to run their work smoothly.
With cloud providing infrastructure and other services like machine learning, and access to software and data, the speed sometimes tends to get slower. To overcome this issue, 5G cellular technology will be aiding edge computing and provide the critical connectivity needed.
By the end of 2020, it is expected most of the countries are expected to get the leverage of this next-generation wireless network.
5G has all the potential to drive advancement in smart machinery. 5G along with IoT is going to be a bigger aspect and all the app development companies or companies are looking forward to taking this opportunity to develop some of the best applications compatible with 5G for a smooth run.
With the technology expected to roll out by the end of 2020, it is expected that there will be as around one billion 5G users by 2023.
