Amazon has been investigated by Connecticut for potential anti-behavior in its business of selling digital books. The probe is one of many into the e-commerce platform’s business practices. Amazon enjoys a dominant share in the e-book business, whose rivals include Barnes & Noble, Apple and Alphabet’s Google.
The investigation is regarding the anti-competitive terms in their e-book distribution agreements with certain publishers. The regulators, lawmakers and consumer groups that firms have too much power and are harming users and business rivals. The probing has started as these groups have fueled a strong backlash on technology platform.
Attorney General William Tong said that they have probed and taken action against companies such as Apple and many other e-book publishers to protect competition in the market and will continue to do so.
The U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee’s antitrust panel published details of Amazon’s anti-competitive behavior and suggested barring the company from operating its online marketplace. Amazon’s online marketplace has come under increasing scrutiny over how it treats sellers, gathers data from such sellers and launches competing products.

Amazon’s every action on their online marketplace is being monitored. Any action suggesting anti-competitive terms or policies may cause increase in the trouble that Amazon is already into.
