As Android 12 release date is coming closer, both people and mobile app developers hold their nerves to know what new features and functionalities will they get with this latest version. Google had previously announced that the new version may hit markets till September end this year. People are hopeful about accessing some advanced features and functionalities through Android 12 and on the other hand, they are also concerned whether their smartphone will support this latest version or not. This blog will offer some crucial information regarding the features that Android 12 will bring along with it and how will affect your usability.

Android 12 Release Date

Android 12 Features

Earlier, Google used to launch its latest Android version along with some Nexus or Pixel phone. Android 10 was launched on September 3, 2019 and Android 11 was also launched on September 8 2020. But both these launches didn’t follow the previous pattern of launching latest pixels in both the cases.

However, there is no official announcement from Google regarding the launch date of Android 12 but as per our verdict, the launch may fall somewhere between December, 21 to January, 22. Of course, there are some speculations too that Google might launch it with its Google Pixel 6 that will be launched on October 19 and will hit the stores till October 28.

Android 12 Features

We have just explored some major changes that you may notice in your smartphones after the launch of Android 12.

An All-new UI

The biggest difference that you may notice in your phone with Android 12 is the UI part that is going to be very exciting for most of us. Android 12 may bring some new colors for a Lightning and a more unified look. This simply means that you will get bigger, rounder bubbles in the notification part. Googles calls this look as “more intuitive and playful” and it will be easier to see things at a glance.

All New UI

Redesigned Widgets

Widgets will also get a makeover in Android 12. This will probably benefit mobile app developers to adopt them for their own software. It’s something that iOS developers have done for widgets on the iPhones but this one from Google will also be big, round, and informative.

Material You

This is a new design language that will be introduced with Android 12. This will surely help designers develop more customized and appealing apps. You can try for an Alpha version of Material Design Components to bring all the latest Material Design 3 updates into your apps.

Notification UI Updates

The notification designs have also been refreshed to make it look more appealing. Android 12 will provide advancement in custom notifications with  some standard affordances to make them reliable.

Privacy & Security

Google has prioritized security aspects with Android 12 launch. The company has been constantly working on this aspect to provide more enhanced and secured access to internet via it. The Android Private Compute Code will take good care of your privacy features and will ensure that the apps and phones are following privacy settings that users have enabled on their phones.

Privacy & Security

Quick Settings Improvements

Android 12 lets you do a lot more than the previous version in settings section. You can easily access Google Pay and Home Controls for connected devices. Google even claims that you can practically control the entire operating system with a swipe and a tap.

Chromebook Integration

For a phone running on Android 12, Google has planned to allow users sign into their chrome book. All the incoming messages will appear on Chromebook and you can also access photos through Chromebook that you have clicked from your phone.

What Devices will it Support?

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will not receive Android 12 but hopefully, all the 2021 flagship phones like Samsung Galaxy S21 and OnePlus 9 will get this update soon. Samsung has also extended the number of Android updates that its phones are eligible for. Here is a list of phones that will surely receive the Android 12 update as soon as it is launched.

  • Pixel 3 (XL, 3A & 3A XL all)
  • Pixel 4, XL, 4A, 4a 5G,
  • Pixel 5 & 5A

Needless to say, that Pixel 6 will come updated with Android 12 pre-installed. Google has made available the next version of Android in the form of beta for some third party phones, these will include:

  • Google Pixel 3 and later versions
  • TCL 20 Pro 5G
  • Xiaomi (MI 11, MI 11 Ultra, MI 11 L, MI 11XPro)
  • ZTE (Axon 30 Ultra 5G)
  • Tecno (Camon 17)
  • RealMe GT 5G
  • Oppo (Find X3 Pro)
  • OnePlus 9 & 9Pro
  • Asus Zenfone 8
  • Vivo (iQOO7 Legend)

So, these are some major changes that you will witness in the coming time in your smartphone with the launch of Android 12. Google has left no stone unturned to make it absolutely exciting and stunning from all perspectives.
